Rolling Wood: The 2014 Beachcruiser Meet

Earlier this week we brought you the vintage steel from the 2014 Beachcruiser Meet, but we can't forget these mobile woodworking masterpieces - the classic woody in all of its wonderful shapes, makes and sizes.So I have to confess, Sara and I have fallen in love with the split hood Dodge Trucks. And what do I find at the show? A split hood Dodge that is also a surf wagon. This '49 slice of sunshine is fantastic!So along with the wagons there was plenty of beach and surf stuff for sale, but the guys forming surfboards is what caught our eye. Watching these guys hand plane and shape boards was fascinating and really showed what a wood craftsman is all about.There were plenty of larger wagons there, but the Morris Minor was also a classic woody.This is what it is all about - surf, sand, wagons and sun.Here's one you don't see everyday, the Packard woody wagon.A fantastic blend of steel and wood made into a rolling piece of art, the woody is the quintessential surf wagon and the Beachcruiser Meet was a marvelous gathering of them. We can't wait till next year!
