Laying Down the Line: Pinstripers at the Grand National Roadster Show
The Grand National Roadster Show is filled with some of the most superb cars and trucks, but there is something else you can't miss......pinstripers! In the main building of the show, some of the best pinstriping artists in the industry practiced their craft on a variety of products. Can you believe this is freehand lettering? Neither can we. This artist had one of the steadiest hands we'd seen at the show.Freehand pinstriping like this, where the artist is simply creating a line, can be among the most difficult art to create. Whereas curves can be somewhat forgiving, straight lines like this are a true test of the artist's abilities. This classic bowling pin was getting the full pinstripe treatment.Several artists were busy creating pieces that celebrated the show itself...... while others worked on themed pieces, like this tiki-inspired enlarged puzzle piece.
You can get almost anything pinstriped - from cars, to clothes, to phones, or heck - even a pair of high heeled shoes!Watching pinstripers work is absolutely fascinating. If you ever have the chance to see one of these artists in action, plan to spend some time being truly amazed by their craft. Controlled in design, yet free in application, their attention to detail and mastery of color and symmetry is quite a sight to behold!
