Whittier Area Classic Car Show, Part I
One of the best classic car shows in the Southern California circuit is also one of the youngest, with just three years under its belt. The Whittier Area Classic Car Show has proven itself, in just a few short years, to be a strong draw for some of the most varied and stunning cars around.
From a classic Impala to a classy Pierce Arrow, this show had something for every type of vintage auto enthusiast.
We love it when the sun smiles on a show like this - it helps to bring out show-stopping convertibles, like these two Jaguars, owned by a talented father and son team who are passionate about restoring cars.
One of the awards given at this show is the "Best Under Construction" title. An award of that name ensures that new projects and cars with incredible potential are welcome, including this Willys. Hopefully, we'll get to see it in the next stages of process at the 2015 show!
Hot rod beauty is demonstrated in so many ways, and I find myself consistently drawn to a perfect patina like the one found on this J&A Restoration Chevy pickup.
I had a chance to have a quick chat with Sandy Hancock of La Habra, Ca, who owns this sleek '34 Ford Coupe, which was a 2014 Grand Daddy Drive-in Award winner at the Grand National Roadster Show.
Pete Wright of Long Beach, Ca., brought out his 1915 REO Speedwagon, complete with a fascinating set of restoration photos. This project was clearly a labor of love for him!
It's tough to look at these photos and imagine that this battered wagon is the same lean, green machine that stood before us at the show! Hats off to Pete on this fantastic restoration!
This eclectic and fascinating family of four vehicles comes from Bruce Hearn of Whittier, Ca.
We happen to share a personal connection to this little Austin, which we'll be bringing you the story on soon!
From this '67 Morris Minor Tourer...
... to this '62 Ford Army Jeep, Bruce certainly enjoys his vehicles, and so did visitors, particularly the kids, who took turns sitting in this one!
Another Whittier native, this '23 T, owned by Marshal Westermark, set a new standard at the show with its low stance and an impeccable fit and finish.
Filled with charming detail, this '29 Roadster, owned by Carl and Ellie Pease, regularly graces the streets of Anaheim, Ca.
We fell in love with this one particular detail, a little policeman to help with the braking...
... complete with his own traffic signal move!
Is there anything better than a clean little Rambler wagon like this one? Yes... original paperwork to match!
The automotive goodness doesn't end here. There's no way we could have fit it all into one post, so you'll just have to stay tuned as we bring you part two from the Whittier Area Classic Car Show!
