Where They Raced at the Automobile Driving Museum
Recently we headed out to the Automobile Driving Museum for a showing of Where They Raced, a wonderful documentary by Harry Pallenberg and Harold Osmer about early racing in Southern California.
There's nothing like getting the chance to mix and mingle with vintage autos AND get to see a fabulous documentary about early racing! Now that's what we call a great afternoon! The ADM was kind enough to host this viewing in their events facility, which is right next to their amazing collection of cars. Gear heads like us "geek out" on days like these - watch a film about cars while we're sitting next to gorgeous vintage ones? Yes, please!
We have to confess - it wasn't our first time seeing this awesome film - we've become big fans of this documentary. Filled with incredible vintage footage, photos, history and interviews, we seem to learn something new every time we see it!
After the movie, Harry and Harold held a little Q&A about the movie and racing in Southern California. Half the fun is hearing them talk about their passion for vintage racing culture; they're both incredibly knowledgeable!
Parked front and center at the entrance of the ADM was Harold's pickup, completely decked out, bumper to bumper.

What's always fun about the ADM are the cars you see in the parking lot, like this trio of MGs, followed by two more vintage beauties...
You've seen our ADM posts every Friday. Yes, they really do bring out three or four cars every Sunday and take visitors for rides!
This time, they brought out this 1909 Model T.
And this gorgeous land yacht of a car, a 1936 Packard Phaeton.
This was our favorite - an impressive art deco masterpiece - the 1935 Chrysler Airflow.
