Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2013: Aston Martin at 100
The James Bond car is 100?!? That's right, the official car of 007 turns 100 this year. It was not originally the car of James Bond, that was not until 1964 and Goldfinger (with the ejector seat and bullet proof screen). Originally Aston Martin was not even named Aston Martin. The company was founded in 1913 by Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin as Bamford & Martin Ltd. and would become the Aston Martin company after Lionel Martin made a winning run in the Aston Hill Climb in 1914.
One of just a few Bamford / Martin cars still in existence (Aston Martin closed their doors in 1925 and was resurrected in 1926 by a group of investors). This 1925 Aston Martin 16 Valve Twin Cam Grand Prix is a beautiful example of both the design and engineering of the Aston Martin legacy.

This 1953 Aston Martin DB3S Sports is a chassis 1 of the DB3S cars. Developed as a lighter version of the DB3, it would go on to win many a race for Aston Martin.
