Porsches: In the Beginning
Join us as we examine some of our vintage finds from the 2014 Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance…It all begin with one car, the Porsche 356, the first car built by the Porsche company. A beautiful example of a 356 is this 1958 Porsche Speedster owned by Bob Smith of Chandler, AZ.The 356 was designed by Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche and was produced from 1948 to 1965. The early cars were based on VW chassis and drive train and slowly were changed over to Porsche-only parts.Another stunning example is this 1959 Porsche 356A owned by David Green of Santa Barbara, CA.The classic lines of the 356 coupe can still be seen in the Porsches of today.
