Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2013: Sports Cars
Last week we brought you some of the race cars from this year's Concours d'Elegance. Today we bring you some of the other racers along with their non-racing cousins. This 1967 Alfa Romeo TZ2 Zagato Coupe was stunning and quite a crowd pleaser. This 1958 BMW 507 Series II Roadster was originally owned by actor David Carradine. This is number seven of the ten 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 Scaglietti NART Spyders built. One of the NART Spyders was used in the original Thomas Crown Affair. Another noteworthy owner was Steve McQueen, and this number 7 car was restored with the same paint color as his car. This classic 1976 Lamborghini Countach LP400 takes me back to watching Miami Vice in my childhood. Can't you see Don Johnson getting out of this car with his white suite and t-shirt? - with no socks, of course. This 1964 Lamborghini 350 GT Touring Coupe was the first car sold by Ferruccio Lamborghini. The 911s were used throughout Europe as police cars, and this 1974 Porsche 911 Targa is a great example. It was used by the Dutch Rijkspolite and could definitely catch the fastest speeder. An interesting fact - the Targa's top was never installed in most of the police cars, which meant officers ended up getting really wet on rainy days. This 1955 Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS Ghia Aigle Cabriolet is only one of eight Alfas with bodies built by Ghia. This 1969 Porsche 911S Coupe's original owner was Dr. Ferdinand Porsche. This 1963 Porsche 901 Prototype Coupe was the beginning of the 911, a model that is still being built today, 50 years later. This is the only 901 Prototype know to exist. With the success of the 901 prototype, this 1964 Porsche 901/911 Karmann Cabriolet Targa prototype was built by German coachbuilder Karmann at the request of Porsche. There's more Concours goodness to come... stay tuned!
