Tuckers with an Ocean View

Automotive Innovation was the theme of this year's Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance, and we'd be hard pressed to find a better example of this theme than the Tucker.  While this car was seriously ahead of its time, it posed too big of a threat to the Big 3, and as a result was short lived.  Today, these incredibly stunning and uber-rare cars cause a stir whenever they make an appearance.

One Tucker alone causes quite a commotion, but to find three at a show is downright unbelievable. The Tucker had many innovations like an integrated rollbar, a center headlight that turned with the steering wheel and a shatterproof windshield designed to pop out in an accident. A rear mounted Franklin flat-6 motor was fitted into each of the Tuckers, which was originally intended for use in a helicopter. Unfortunately, the Tucker's life ended all too soon, as financial and legal issues plagued the company.  Only 50 Tuckers were ever completed, and the small number that remain are obsessively worshiped by automotive nuts like us.We have more fascinating finds from the PV Concours, so stay tuned!
