Museum Crash: Mullin Automotive Museum

From time to time on our blog, we'll feature "Museum Crashes," where we visit museums with great cars and automotive exhibits. This weekend, we visited the Mullin Automotive Museum:Location: 1421 Emerson Avenue, Oxnard, CA 93033Hours: The  museum is open twice each month (click here for dates) , and opens at 10AM and closes at 3PM on scheduled open days.  In  order to properly tour the collection, you will need 2 to 2 1/2 hours.   However, you may stay as long as you like between the hours of 10AM-3PM.Entrance fee: $12 per personContact: 805.385.5400Known for: Their collection of French automobiles from the 1920s and 1930sMust See: well, in our opinion, everything.  But in particular, don't miss the 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, it's breathtaking!An ode to the Art Deco movement, this museum celebrates French Automobiles from that time period."For me French automobiles of the 1920s and 1930s represent the pinnacle of 20th Century art and design - the artistic realization in steel, leather, and glass of a modern idea created at a moment when hand craftsmanship embraced the machine, and a spirit of optimism fueled an explosion in artistic and technical development.  As an avid collector, the preservation of these rolling sculptures for the enjoyment of future generations is both a responsibility and a pleasure.  I relish the stewardship and preservation of their exciting histories."- Peter W. MullinThe main portion of the collection is housed on the first floor, while vintage race cars are featured on the second floor's mezzanine.Between the Delahayes, Bugattis, Peugots, Talbot Lagos, and Voisins, this collection featured some of the most beautiful automotive creations every produced.The details and thought put into this museum are as artful and gorgeous as the cars that call it home.  The collection includes art and decorative works from the art deco period, giving visitors a total picture of the total design focus that dominated those decades.Like what you see?  Consider these photos the tip of the iceberg.  We'll be bringing you features on each of the French makes that are part of this incredible collection.
