Military Style: The Pinzgauer 710M

Did we mention that the Friends of Steve McQueen featured many eclectic and fascinating vehicles?  Today we bring you another fabulous find, a Pinzgauer 710M.FSM14-DSC_0185rProduction of this offroad military vehicle by Steyr-Daimler-Puch began in 1971 in Austria, and this 710M is a first-generation model.FSM14-DSC_0188rThe Pinzgaurer served as a military vehicle in a variety of countries.  This 710M, owned by Tim Walder, had its tour of duty with the Swiss military before coming to America.FSM14-DSC_0187rRenowned for its reliability and ease of repairs, this 4x4 workhorse remains a popular choice as a military vehicle today.FSM14-DSC_0190rWith an incredible payload, towing capability and the ability to travel nearly 250 miles on a single tank of gas, it is easy to see why these imports are snatched up by adventurous collectors!There are more fun & unusual vintage automotive finds to come... stay tuned!
