Maserati at 100
100 years is quite a milestone to reach, and this year Maserati celebrated its 100th birthday in style with a full display at the Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca.
What started out with a single cylinder motor and a bicycle built by oldest brother Carlo Maserati turned into a family affair as the other family members joined the automobile business. Sadly, in 1910, Carlo passed away from lung disease, but the path was set for the remaining three of the six brothers. In 1914 Società Anonomia Officine Alfieri Maserati was founded in Bologna, Italy. Alfieri, Ernesto and Ettore would commission their artistic brother Mario to create the trident logo for the new company. In 1926, the Tipo 26 was born with the trident logo attached, becoming the first true Maserati automobile. From racing to luxury cars, Maserati has led with innovation and luxury styling throughout its 100 year history.
