Hot Dogs & A Fleetline
So my buddy Darr calls me the other day to tell me about this fantastic Fleetline he spotted while getting a hot dog in Burbank. He’s a better writer than I am. I’ll let him tell you about it.
As World War II fades back into history from our minds, there are still a bunch of enthusiasts who love and nurture post War cars. Some might not classify these cars as hot rods, but that is a huge all-encompassing phrase.
While waiting for a hot dog at Larry’s Chili Dog joint in Burbank, CA. I snapped these photos of a beautiful 1946 Chevrolet Fleetline Aero Sedan. It was driven by a mid-60-ish gentleman who appeared to utilize his special ride as a daily driver to grab a couple of dogs.
Traditional all the way, as the owner drove away the distinctive sound of a straight 6-cylinder Chevy with split exhaust manifold rumbled as he blended into westbound traffic. Note the Chrysler hubcaps.
Larry’s Dogs are also a throwback, the crisp snap when you bite into one. Back to a time when Southern California was dotted with small, shack-based dog stands.
