Happy 88th to George Barris, King of the Kustomizers!

November 20th marked the 88th birthday of legendary custom car builder George Barris, and we were fortunate enough to be a part of the celebration at Barris Kustoms...If anyone knows how to throw a birthday party, it's the folks at Barris Kustom City...... every available spot, from lawn to curb, was filled with crazy "kustom" cars!Where else would we find George, but with glamorous girls and Hollywood cars?Inside, everyone gathered to talk cars and wish George a happy 88th...We loved this custom Batmobile cake!We were delighted to run into our friend Dave Kunz, seen here with George, who gave us the heads-up about this event (thanks, Dave!).  Dave received this favorite book as a child, which profiled many of the "star cars" that George built.  It fueled his early love for custom cars, and he was thrilled to snap a pic with George and his vintage copy of "Cars of the Stars."Gifts for George filled this table, but we want to know - who gave George the gold-clad Barbie?Everyone mixed, mingled, snacked on tacos, played some Barris trivia, and even enjoyed an Elvis entertainer!George greeted many friends, fans, customers, and industry legends throughout the afternoon.And many friends brought their cars by to honor George on his special day.We loved the fine detail on this truck, particularly the clever pinstriping.We're so happy we were able to join in wishing George Barris a happy 88th birthday...... and didn't miss the opportunity to sign the giant card, "To the man who makes our automotive dreams into reality - We love you!"Stay tuned this week as we take you behind the scenes into Barris Kustom City - wait until we show you all that we found during our Shop Crash!  Don't miss it!
