Car Crash: Meet Amber the Ambulance
A feature here at the Daily Driver is the Car Crash. Breathe easy – no actual cars were harmed in the making of this crash. That would be a crime, and a cryin’ shame. Our Car Crash is much more fun – in a “crash a party” kind of a way. If you’ve ever seen a vintage car and wanted to see the interior or wondered about its restoration process, then the Car Crash is just the post for you. Join us as we explore the details of a gorgeous vehicle…Here's our favorite find of the OPG show - an AWESOME Caddy ambulance! This is Ryan Dunn's 1958 Cadillac Miller Meteor Combination Ambulance, named Amber.

Ryan found and saved her from a yard in San Angelo TX. She had been parked since 1976 and was the only service vehicle for the town until the late '60s.
It still sports the original 365 V8!Ryan attacked the front interior within the first 6 months of owning her. He also went through the drive train to make sure she was road worthy. He has not yet modified the rear interior yet, and it's as if time stood still in the back of this ambulance...... eerie, creepy and Halloween ready, this Caddy is ready for a movie set!Every little detail on Amber tells a story. We only wish Amber could talk so she could tell us all about her days of taking care of the people in her town!Under the dash, we found all the special emergency controls, the toggles for the sirens and lights, and of course, the phone! She still runs a Federal C4 Siren and her 175 Federal Beacon on the roof.Ryan tells us that about 400 of these wagons were ever made, and from his research, maybe between 6 to 10 still exist today. Finding this Caddy is like finding a unicorn! Do they really exist? In Amber's case, they do!Is it just me, or is that tail light staring back at me?Check out that patina! Ryan is not sure if he wants to paint her or not, but he gets compliments on her beautifully aged finish all the time. Amber proves that beauty really does come with age. Whatever he decides, Amber will always have a personality all her own. If you ever get a chance to see Amber out and about, be sure to stop and say hello. She's one girl that's absolutely worth stopping to talk to!Special thanks to Ryan for reaching out to us and giving us Amber's story. We hope the two of them will be very happy together for many years to come.
