Al Slonaker Memorial Award

Started in 1974 by Al Slonaker the founder of the Grand National Roadster Show, the Al Slonaker Memorial Award is awarded ever year for the non-roadster hot rods. Each year the caliber of cars is excellent and this year was no different. This year’s winner is the “X-60” 1960 Buick Invicta Custom owned by George & Angela Eliacostas and built by Cal Automotive Creations. A wonderful creation with so many small wonderful details.

The “X-60” was a wonderful car but my favorite of the Al Slonaker Memorial Award entries was the "Buick E-Job" 1949 Buick Sedanette built by Cody Walls. Such a smooth wonderful build. Notice something interesting about the front of the car? Yep, no headlights. They are hidden in the grille. Lots of small tweaks to the body and interior make and all over beautiful custom.
