Aerodynamics in Action: The 1941 Lincoln Zephyr

Join us as we examine one of our vintage finds from the 2014 Greystone Mansion Concours d'Elegance...GC14-DSC_0060rThis beautiful 1941 Lincoln Zephyr is owned by Jack Jones of Pacific Palisades, Ca. The Zephyr's first year of production was 1936, and bold aerodynamic developments continued throughout its history.GC14-DSC_0062rOne of the most striking - and effective - portions of the Zephyr's aerodynamic design is the front end.  From a purely aesthetic standpoint, we love how the swooping lines in the grille are echoed in the curves of the fenders.GC14-DSC_0063rAutomotive production came to a halt in early 1942 due to the war, making 1941 the last full production year for the Zephyr.GC14-DSC_0064rFollowing 1942, the Zephyr name was dropped and luxury cars in the line were simply referred to as Lincolns.  We can only imagine what this Lincoln has seen in her day, and we're certainly thankful that she's still stunningly road-worthy.Stay tuned for more of our vintage finds from the Greystone Concours!
