A Vision in Chrome: The 1955 Pontiac Star Chief Custom

Join us as we examine one of our vintage finds from the 2014 Greystone Mansion Concours d'Elegance...GC14-DSC_0204rThis second generation 1955 Pontiac Star Chief Custom is owned by Richard Stanley of Los Angeles.GC14-DSC_0201rSecond gen Star Chiefs came standard with a 289 V8, and the addition of the two chrome stripes down the hood makes them easy to identify.  I like to think that those chrome strips were added so the airplane ornament could use the hood as a real landing strip.GC14-DSC_0207rThe Custom was the top of the Star Chief line, with a lower, Deluxe model available as well.GC14-DSC_0205rThe Star Chief rose to fame in 1955 on episode 110 of I Love Lucy when Lucy and Desi drove a convertible version to California.GC14-DSC_0206rThe use of chrome accents throughout the car are astounding - from flat to angled to grooved, they truly make the lines of the car even more spectacular.GC14-DSC_0197rStay tuned as we bring you more vintage finds from the 2014 Greystone Concours!
