A Vision in Chrome: The 1955 Pontiac Star Chief Custom
Join us as we examine one of our vintage finds from the 2014 Greystone Mansion Concours d'Elegance...This second generation 1955 Pontiac Star Chief Custom is owned by Richard Stanley of Los Angeles.Second gen Star Chiefs came standard with a 289 V8, and the addition of the two chrome stripes down the hood makes them easy to identify. I like to think that those chrome strips were added so the airplane ornament could use the hood as a real landing strip. The Custom was the top of the Star Chief line, with a lower, Deluxe model available as well. The Star Chief rose to fame in 1955 on episode 110 of I Love Lucy when Lucy and Desi drove a convertible version to California. The use of chrome accents throughout the car are astounding - from flat to angled to grooved, they truly make the lines of the car even more spectacular.Stay tuned as we bring you more vintage finds from the 2014 Greystone Concours!
