A Match Made in Heaven: '56 Nomad & Shasta Trailer

You've been enjoying our fabulous finds from our visit to the Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show, and we promised you that more amazing finds were coming.  Now we're featuring a retro traveler of a different four-wheeled kind.  Let's talk trailers!FSM14-DSC_0042rImagine our delight when we walked past the sea of cars at the show and found an entire section of gorgeous vintage trailers lounging on the baseball field!FSM14-DSC_0045rOwned by David and Karen Jennings, this incredible combo begins with this 1956 Nomad, a stunning resto-mod that has been lovingly restored with all the modern creature comforts, hidden within this car's classic style.FSM14-DSC_0067rFSM14-DSC_0043rPower to haul the matching Shasta Trailer is no problem, with a 350 under the hood.FSM14-DSC_0063rFSM14-DSC_0066rThis resto-mod cleverly features a modern stereo, complete with bluetooth connectivity, a change that is barely visible from the dash.FSM14-DSC_0065rNot only do David and Karen travel in style, they also travel in comfort.  This Nomad is fully equipped with A/C.  No old-fashioned 2/60 air conditioning for these two!FSM14-DSC_0064rFSM14-DSC_0075rThis beauty also features a Curry 9 inch rear end and a 700 R4 with 4 wheel disc breaks - giving it plenty of towing and stopping power.FSM14-DSC_0068rFSM14-DSC_0074rFSM14-DSC_0044rCheck out the spread this little Shasta puts out!  Who would want a hotel when you have a palace on wheels like this one?FSM14-DSC_0046rFSM14-DSC_0049rFSM14-DSC_0072rIf we loved the way the outside was set up, we were even more thrilled with the restoration of and setup on the inside...FSM14-DSC_0054rupon entrance, you're greeted by a beautiful bank of windows and a cozy and bright booth, all ready for the next meal.  Notice the classic Shasta "S" cutout in the magazine rack?  LOVE it!FSM14-DSC_0057rFSM14-DSC_0051rFilled with glossy blonde wood and original details, the Jennings have put serious thought and clever touches everywhere to keep this Shasta true to its '56 roots.FSM14-DSC_0060rFSM14-DSC_0058rEven the appliances fit the color of both the trailer's exterior and the Nomad's color scheme.FSM14-DSC_0050rCute and comfy enough for two, this well-planned space has all the comforts of home, and oodles of retro charm, which come from little details like pom-pom edging on the curtains and rick-rack edging on the shelves.FSM14-DSC_0071rFSM14-DSC_0070rFSM14-DSC_0048rMake no mistake, this Nomad & Shasta combo are not show queens.  They are workhorses in the vacationing world.  The Jennings travel in these two all the time, traveling to campgrounds and beaches alike.FSM14-DSC_0047rFSM14-DSC_0076rIt's no wonder that with a combo like this, the Jennings get stopped all the time by passers by.  By now, they're used to seeing people slow down next to them on the highway and take photos.  Special thanks to David and Karen for bringing their '56 pair out to the show, so we could take a good look around and chat with them about these two incredible vintage treasures.We'll be seeing them again in October at the Ride the Wild Surf vintage trailer show, where we're sure to meet like-minded trailer enthusiasts, which so far are just about the nicest people you'd ever meet.
