A Match Made in Heaven: '56 Nomad & Shasta Trailer
You've been enjoying our fabulous finds from our visit to the Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show, and we promised you that more amazing finds were coming. Now we're featuring a retro traveler of a different four-wheeled kind. Let's talk trailers!Imagine our delight when we walked past the sea of cars at the show and found an entire section of gorgeous vintage trailers lounging on the baseball field!Owned by David and Karen Jennings, this incredible combo begins with this 1956 Nomad, a stunning resto-mod that has been lovingly restored with all the modern creature comforts, hidden within this car's classic style.Power to haul the matching Shasta Trailer is no problem, with a 350 under the hood. This resto-mod cleverly features a modern stereo, complete with bluetooth connectivity, a change that is barely visible from the dash. Not only do David and Karen travel in style, they also travel in comfort. This Nomad is fully equipped with A/C. No old-fashioned 2/60 air conditioning for these two! This beauty also features a Curry 9 inch rear end and a 700 R4 with 4 wheel disc breaks - giving it plenty of towing and stopping power.Check out the spread this little Shasta puts out! Who would want a hotel when you have a palace on wheels like this one?If we loved the way the outside was set up, we were even more thrilled with the restoration of and setup on the inside...upon entrance, you're greeted by a beautiful bank of windows and a cozy and bright booth, all ready for the next meal. Notice the classic Shasta "S" cutout in the magazine rack? LOVE it!Filled with glossy blonde wood and original details, the Jennings have put serious thought and clever touches everywhere to keep this Shasta true to its '56 roots.Even the appliances fit the color of both the trailer's exterior and the Nomad's color scheme.Cute and comfy enough for two, this well-planned space has all the comforts of home, and oodles of retro charm, which come from little details like pom-pom edging on the curtains and rick-rack edging on the shelves.Make no mistake, this Nomad & Shasta combo are not show queens. They are workhorses in the vacationing world. The Jennings travel in these two all the time, traveling to campgrounds and beaches alike. It's no wonder that with a combo like this, the Jennings get stopped all the time by passers by. By now, they're used to seeing people slow down next to them on the highway and take photos. Special thanks to David and Karen for bringing their '56 pair out to the show, so we could take a good look around and chat with them about these two incredible vintage treasures. We'll be seeing them again in October at the Ride the Wild Surf vintage trailer show, where we're sure to meet like-minded trailer enthusiasts, which so far are just about the nicest people you'd ever meet.
